Welcome to St. Patrick's
St. Patrick's Charismatic Episcopal Church is a member of the International Communion
of the Charismatic Episcopal Church.
History of St. Patrick's
Father Bronsqiest of The Dalles offered Mass the first time in the newly
completed Catholic Church on May 12, 1895. Archbishop Gross of Portland
dedicated it in honor of St. Patrick on June 1, 1895. The church was
attached to Hood River in 1906. Cascade Locks was made a separate
mission in 1912 by Bishop O'Reilly who assigned Father M. J. Kelly as
the first resident priest. A devastating fire occurred July 2, 1934
when a prankster threw a bundle of exploding sparklers into a
concession stand which contained a large supply of fireworks. The
shower of sparks quickly ignited the fireworks and with a strong
westerly wind fanning the flames the fire quickly enveloped the main
business block of Cascade Locks and reduced to debris everything in its
way. The Catholic Church building

was completely destroyed by the
fire. It was not rebuilt. There was no liturgical church under
Episcopal authority in Cascade Locks for sixty-two years after the
fire. On March 16, 1996 Bishop Ken Myers from Sherman, Texas laid his
hands on two men in an ordination service held at a rented facility
making the first resident priest and deacon of a new mission parish
which he founded, named and dedicated to St. Patrick. Bishop Myers had
no knowledge that he was following and linking to those early spiritual
beginnings and dedication to St. Patrick that had previously taken place
decades before. Once again the Lord has raised up a standard and
visited a community with his authority and presence through his one,
holy, catholic and apostolic Church. St. Patrick's continues to occupy
until the Lord comes by continuing steadfastly in the teaching of the
apostles and in the fellowship, in the breaking of the loaf and in the
prayers. St. Patrick's Society is the evangelism arm of the parish and
is practiced by feeding the poor.
